Sentry Wars!

It as one of those nights again where we do absolutely mindless things. Sentry Wars is a game of territorial control. Engineers deploy buildings in defence of their teams territory while other team members deploy buildings to help advance towards the enemy's side of the map. The game is over when all sentries are built within range of the opposing team's spawn area - resulting in repeated domination!

The game was the Blu Builders, Xeon, !?, Rat and myself(Psy) against the Red Builders, Ville, Trum, Duece and Selr. It looked pretty grim for Blu under Trum's directed fire orders but the Reds slipped up when they attempted to advance too much upfield, resulting in 4 sentries launching rockets in their general direction. The rockets missed the engineers but ended up hitting the buildings behind instead. This provided the perfect chance for Blu to push up their guns just over the half-way mark, pistoling whatever remained of the Reds.

The game ended with a score of 3 to Blu and 0 to Red. But as it was earlier established by Ville, "Winner treating Sushi ah."

Xeon's Trippy Adventure

It's not often you have a virus and dying graphics at the same time. Xeon was exceptionally lucky last night and it's an even greater rarity that he managed to document these screenshots as proof. I had to scan the files when he sent them to me to make sure they weren't infected by his sickly system. I'm pretty astounded that Xeon was able to even differentiate friend from foe let alone play reasonably well.

So we had a game with TnT late last night. I think the guys who heard the teamchat would remember Xeon spradically going, "Whoah! This is damn weird lah! Got Disco!" and "OMG this is crazy, my graphics are dying..." Here's why.

Xeon, "Eh there's like bloody things on the floor and the TnT avatar is everywhere!" Guess it really felt like we were going into their base eh. Actually when I saw this shot it looked like minefield warnings.

Shrooms?

Acid?

Xeon, "Okay okay! Wait! Ville don't move you look damn cool!!" I especially like the moment our whole team was dead and I was running away while Xeon charges blindly onto the cap point. We're all like, "Xeon wtf are you doing?" and he goes, "Eh? You didn't have uber ah? Oh sorry, I can't see the meter."

XsT Pyro Madness!

We got all bored and emo on a sunday night, QQing about life and QQing with joy how hamilton had won the Monaco race. So we decided to mess around abit with fraps and our trademark haduken moves by XsT.

WMGT Goes Home

Most of you guys would have remembered last night to be a well-watered evening (haha look what I did, I made a pun). Big thanks to Mut for dropping some lovely tracks and getting WMGT on the guestlist last night. Also a shoutout to Midnight for joining us in the earlier parts of the evening for a few rounds of drinks - particularly Ren will not forget you.

I do apologise for the washed-out pictures, the guys at Home were really feeling very generous with the smoke machine. We headed over to Macs for supper... err... breakfast before heading home (yes the real home) to cram into a pub server lol.

For the XsTs who couldn't make it last night, here's a snippet of Mut's set. She dropped Siren's Of The Sea by Oceanlab. I know Mass and Xeon would have gone nuts for this one - I did, lol! Again, apologies for poor video compression, that's Mut behind the DJ booth if you can make her out. Quote from Duece, "Wah quite shiok."

And here's Ren, the biproduct of Midnight's handiwork. Selr, your brother is crazy. Thanks so much for coming along Ren, we hope you had a good time, definitely better than booking in again we're sure, take it easy and we'll see you when you next book out!

Edit by mut:
Thanks for coming all! Hope you guys had fun, and hope everyone has minimal hangovers this afternoon. Because I have one. Here's the tracklist:

TRip! - Who's Going

Hai Guys, I need to consolidate the number of people going for TRip tonight:

XsT and Friends
Psyrabbit
Insanity
Xeon
Duece
Spiddy
Midnight

ICP and Friends
Null
Rivace
Assie
Hozay
TheNork + Sarah
Newbie

+My own friends... that's quite a shitload of people to get on guestlist LOL.
Let me know if I've missed out anyone (or to confirm whether you're going/not going) ASAP. For those who're wondering, I'll be dishing out a good mix of tunes with a combination of techy-riffs and melodic 4/4 sequences. It's an all-trance night, and if you're a fan of Pure Hard Dance, stay till the end with the other DJs.

MEET AT CLARKE QUAY MRT, 1030PM.

Thanks for coming in advance, oh and remember to have plenty of booze!
See you guys there :)

Turning Up The Heat, Avanti Here We Go!

As Insanity continues to convince us that Pyro is a viable class in competitive aspects, we've been seeing things his way lately. Impressed by the class-clearing abilities, the admins are increasingly sold to the idea of incorporating a Pyro. Mass, you've got company.

Scout down!

Demo down!

Victory!

We also held a 6v6 old-school Avantistranaganza last night. Thanks to everyone who showed up for the 5th Custom Map server party! Shoutout to Kenny, Indi and Trum for staying up with us till 3.26am this morning. Highly recommend this custim map to old-schoolers. It's a very VERY good replication of the classic. Rat and Trum would remember the classic sentry spots that pissed the hell out of the attackers. Keep the spam up!

There were some initial disputes to whether it would be more cost effective to sell Bananas or Durians. The brawl at the 'Naners stand was getting ugly and paramedics had to called to the scene.

Fortunately, after some not-so-violent discussion, both parties agreed on selling their wares as deep-fried condiments. Initially christianing them, "Goreng Pisang".

Here's us in a group photo. We love taking group photos, we take them in real-life all the time and now we're taking it in-game. Then again, we used to take in-game shots together all the time back in the TFC days. Relive the moments!

And here's another pic of the group. Insanity demands his hadouken be featured. And that's Xeon in mid-flight.

And here's Kenny and Insanity in a tree.

In Search of Cake - Flash Portal Conversion

If you've played Portal, you're sure to have heard of Portal: The Flash Version. Well, as contemporary culture goes, evolution takes on a cyclical pattern. The Flash Version has been counter-ported into the real portal as a huge map pack. It's almost a standalone.

I swear to you, if you thought regular Portal was confusing, these 40 levels will mindfuck you properly. The puzzles are often three dimensional and being in first-person, you really have to have very good spatial memory... and yes, it's got the gawddamn electric floors, red-blue barriers from the Flash Version.

I won't spoil it for you guys but it's got this epic running storyline that connects to the Half-Life and Portal timelines. In addition it brings you deeper into the other facets of the Aperture Science labs, hinting at some of the conspiracies, philosophy and speculations surrounding the Half-Life / Portal universe.

You can check it out and download the pack from the creator's site.

"You're not even going the right way." I love it.

Clubbing, Shirt Tests and Mut's Gig

Had a pretty awesome Saturday night with Steve Aoki and I dragged Assie along for the ride lol. The usual WMGT clubbing crew Ace and Mut headed over to loof that night (gimme pics pls). So yeah anyway, Assie was a real sport and got into the whole ReadySetGlo mood - lol glow goggles! Paiseh to Duece who wanted to meet us there for drinks, the whole place no reception couldn't receive your texts.

Also happened this weekend was the trial prints for the upcoming official shirts. I've already wasted one shirt because I noobly forgot to switch off "STEAM mode" on the iron. The design is still visible but it's peeling and flaking a tad. I'm offering this trial shirt for SGD$9 to barely cover the material cost, it's an L size - interested please drop me a line. It's been altered abit, the X, S and T in the lines have been shaded out to represent the aesthetics better.

The DJ is a Spy! Last but not least is Mut's gig next week. She'll be spinning at Homeclub. Whether you're a lover of electronic music or simply a lover for booze, do try and show your support! We probably could meet up earlier for a couple of drinks (Duece, Spiddy?) See details!
24th MAY, 11pm onwards
$15 (incl 1 drink) after 11pm
$12 (incl 1 drink) before 11pm
1-FOR-1 HOUSEPOUR TILL MIDNIGHT
More news on this as the week goes by.

Official XsT Shirts

Hey guys, we've been working on the XsT shirt since the TFC days but have never got one into print (mainly because no one gave a shit.) Hence, Insanity and I have taken things into our own hands and started work on the side project codenamed "XsTees" - the consortium is currently looking for designers and illustrators, if you think you fit either of the criteria, do contact us.

Anyway, the first in this collection is the official XsT T-shirt. It's got the entire TF2 crew's nicknames on it and it's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK YOUR SPELLING AND LET US KNOW IF WE GOT IT WRONG. The tee is part of XsT's "9th going on to 10th" year of Team Fortress material that we're producing for you guys.

We're trying to stay away from the concept of a "clan tee shirt" which has your name personalised on it (lol orientation week jerseys!) So yes, as we move toward more designer styles this tee is actually something that I would wear to go clubbing in.

The tees are good quality cotton and are designer cut for a great fit. All prints are thermal stamped onto the shirt and are good for about 40 washes (wash shirt inside out to increase life - we'll include washing instructions don't worry.) The first shirt is slated to hit production before June. We're working out postage and delivery costs at the moment too.

The expected costs for each shirt is about SGD$30.

Medic Voice Actor

This is really random but anyway, was trawling the TF wikis for the actual lines written for the Medic - I know it's damn geeky, but I was bored and I wanted to find out what the really long line that the medic kept saying when he blocks a cap, it goes, "Standing next to the point... something something..."

Then, I stumbled upon the voice actor for it. The voice for the Medic's been in ALOT of other games and you probably heard/seen him elsewhere! Some of his other roles include Sebastian Van Heerden in Mass Effect, Davy Jones in Pirates of the Carribean and Gentleman Ghost from Batman and Justice League lol. You might wanna check out his full profile on IMDB. It's a DAMN big portfolio.
